Every Batch Counts...
In my role as a production planner, everything revolves around precision. The composition of our compounds has to be spot on, and color plays a major role in this. Especially with shades of grey, even the slightest difference is noticeable. Sometimes, I work with very small amounts of pigment powder, which I weigh out to a fraction of a gram. I do this with full concentration to ensure that the final product is consistent and that the PVC compounds can be used exactly as intended. The biggest challenge when it comes to color? Blue pigment... it really sticks to everything. My secret? Wearing multiple layers of Plastchem shirts. That way, I can keep myself and my clothes a bit cleaner. ;-)
Good work is never done alone
To do my job well, I work closely with colleagues from other departments. The planners make sure I know exactly which color specifications are needed, and that information comes through our system (BC14). Then I make the right choices, and the information is passed through the control room to the correct production line.
We use the latest weighing technologies, which ensures that everything is automatically controlled and the process runs smoothly. Thanks to this technology, we can work quickly and minimize waste.
And then there’s logistics, making sure that the right raw materials arrive at my workstation on time. This way, we can keep the production process running according to schedule without unnecessary delays.
A tidy workplace is my foundation
Every batch I weigh affects the color quality of our PVC compounds. That’s why I like to keep my workplace clean and organized, so I can do my job properly. Together with my colleagues, I regularly review whether anything can be improved, or if everything is running as it should.
