Going with the flow
In September 2024, I took my first steps at Plastchem Circular, the place where PVC material is given a second life. My connection with Plastchem goes back much further. For years, I worked at a company located on the same site where Plastchem used to be based. We were literally neighbours, which allowed me to see up close how the company started small and grew into an organisation they can truly be proud of.
After many years in the film industry and a short detour to the largest water company in the Netherlands, I was given the opportunity to bring my energy to Plastchem Circular. From the very first moment, the job interview for the Operator position felt familiar and comfortable.
My life in two rhythms…
Outside of work, music has been my biggest passion since primary school. I’m a music producer and DJ. In the ’90s and early 2000s, I mainly played hardcore, later hardstyle — sounds many will surely recognise. These days, my heart lies more with melodic house. I’ve been fortunate enough to perform both in the Netherlands and abroad. Great times, with a very different day-and-night rhythm. Things are a bit quieter now, but I’m still active under the artist name Levasseur.
Work also brings its own rhythm with the two-shift system, but it suits me well. It gives me more freedom in my personal life. My workdays start with a cup of coffee and a short team briefing. The factory is largely self-steering, but to keep the circular process running smoothly, good coordination between shifts is essential. Moist material, for example, turned out to be a major challenge in the process. By observing together, testing, and adjusting, we made small but important steps toward a more stable output. That collective problem-solving is exactly what makes the work so interesting for me.
The freedom I’m given and the strong sense of togetherness within the team make me enjoy going to work every day. Tackling challenges together and improving bit by bit is truly rewarding.
In the meantime, I’ve taken a great step from Operator to Team Leader. The fact that Plastchem trusts me and gives me the opportunity to grow in this role is something I see as one of the company’s greatest strengths. It’s certainly not something to take for granted!
