Always in progress

As a logistics manager at Plastchem, I ensure daily that our PVC compounds arrive at the right place, at the right time, and in good condition to our customers.

I do this together with a team of driven colleagues who are committed to fast and reliable delivery. No day is the same in my work, and that's what makes it so enjoyable for me. My role primarily revolves around coordinating, collaborating with the logistics team, and quickly adjusting when needed. Thanks to our long-term partnership with trusted and reliable transporters, we can offer that flexibility. At Plastchem, flexibility is highly valued: in exceptional cases, we even deliver on the same day!

Additionally, I am literally always on the move and easily reach the required steps per day. Vitality is an important theme nowadays, and I find it a great added value that my work keeps me active in this way

Actively contributing to the construction process of our factory in 2021
In 2021, we had the opportunity to build a beautiful new factory. It was a unique experience to actively participate in the entire construction process. The layout of the warehouses and the optimal routing on the premises played an important role in this. The result is a modern, efficient storage capacity of 13,000 m², equipped with various types of shelving. Thanks to the extensive pallet capacity, Plastchem can store large quantities of inventory for our customers.

How the logistics department contributes to the growth of Plastchem

Since Plastchem has the ambition to grow further, this also requires adjustments within our logistics department. We do everything we can to ensure continuity and quality. We achieve this by:

  • Using automation more intelligently: we are currently partially using automated shuttles in the shelving, but we are in the process of expanding our warehouse with AGVs (automated guided vehicles), which are expected to be operational by the end of this year.

  • We like to keep our staff satisfied and motivated. We listen to the needs of our colleagues and ensure that we have the right transport equipment, tailored to their needs and workload

In 2025: a new warehouse
To maintain our inventory in the future, the completion of a new 10,000 m² warehouse is scheduled for the summer of 2025. We look forward to the completion and the new opportunities it will offer us.

Sustainability and logistics
Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role, also in logistics. To align with Plastchem's sustainability strategy, we use electrically powered transport vehicles, which are charged with our own solar panels. Additionally, each year we evaluate whether our transporters are also embracing sustainability. This includes looking at the drivetrains of trucks and the certifications held by our transporters.
