Plastchem Circular
Starting in March 2025, the Plastchem Circular, part of Plastchem BV, will be operational at the De Nieuwe Haven site in Hardenberg. This facility will be the first in Europe to convert PVC waste into reusable materials for new applications using advanced shredding and sorting processes.
The PVC waste processed at the Plastchem Circular plant will be reintegrated into the production process of our compounding plant, Plastchem BV, known for its energy-efficient, automated, and high-quality production processes. A new product line of PVC compounds, called Hybrid Compounds, will be produced here. These compounds can be used for the same end applications without compromising on quality or performance.
With Plastchem Circular, we gain greater control over our carbon footprint. Our ambition is to make half of our raw materials independent of fossil fuels in the future, which will allow us to almost halve our CO2 impact.
Plastchem Circular and Plastchem BV: A Unique and Forward-Thinking Solution
How is the waste material collected for compound production?
Plastchem aims for a fully closed material cycle and works with customers and industry partners to develop a sustainable system. Waste materials are collected as follows:
1. Colletion within a 250 km radius of Hardenberg
In the immediate region of our plant, the focus is on independently collecting production waste from existing customers of Plastchem BV and other extrusion companies. The material is transported in its original form to our new plant at De Nieuwe Haven in Hardenberg.
2. Collabration beyond the region
For customers in Belgium, Germany, and the United Kingdom, we work with local partners. In these areas, plastic waste—both post- and pre-consumer—is centralized and pre-processed through shredding. This makes it more efficient to transport the material to our plant.
A Sustainable Choice and a shared mission
With the sustainable Hybrid Compounds, Plastchem BV offers a forward-thinking solution. This not only helps our customers achieve their sustainability goals but also contributes to building a circular economy in which plastic waste is not lost but reused.Tom Bijker - Productmanager & Tom Driessens - Business Director
